Hiding Your Power Level is Lying

Show Notes

The Will Spencer Podcast is back, and this time there's a plan.

It starts with a story from a men’s initiation weekend I went through in 2013: a man in the middle of a silent room, a broken promise, and one question. “Number 34, what did you choose to do instead?” That question taught me what accountability and integrity are, and what it means to be a man.

Then I turn it on something I’ve watched grow all year: Christian men “hiding their power level.” There’s another word for it. It’s called lying.

So here’s the plan for this season. I’ve read more than four thousand pages on the far right this year, and now I’m going straight to the authors who wrote them. I lay out who I’m reaching out to, why many of them are on the left, the three questions you can ask any man you’re worried about, and what a real repudiation sounds like. And I’m announcing our next book club: Walk the Narrow, by Raven’s Anvil.

In this episode

  • Why every man needs an initiation, and a bridge he can’t cross back over

  • What a broken promise reveals: the commitment doesn’t vanish, something replaces it

  • Owning it versus evading it, and why pride makes a man smaller

  • Accountability (do I do what I say?) and integrity (am I the man I say I am?)

  • Why “hiding your power level” is Number 42 on purpose

  • Why I’m learning from authors on the left: a weatherman doesn’t need to be a Christian to tell you it’s raining

  • Three questions that show where a man stands, and why refusing to answer isn’t neutral

  • Covenant, not blood. Sin, not theft. Repentance, not revolution.

  • Why pride and victimhood are the enemy’s chief tactics

  • The fight coming over psychedelics, New Age spirituality, and transhumanism
